Boeing has announced that its 787 Dreamliner has now carried over 1 billion passengers, reaching the milestone faster than any other widebody commercial aircraft in history. The Dreamliner achieved this feat in under 14 years since it first entered service. Today, more than 1,175 Dreamliners operate globally, having completed nearly 5 million flights and over 30 million flight hours.

Scott Stocker, Boeing’s 787 programme vice president and general manager, said the achievement is thanks to the trust and support of airline customers around the world. He highlighted the aircraft’s impact on modern air travel, calling it a symbol of efficiency, comfort, and innovation. “Flying over 1 billion passengers in this relatively short time is a testament to how the airplane has delivered on its promises,” he said.
The 787 Dreamliner is around 25% more fuel efficient than the aircraft it replaces, made possible by new engines, lightweight materials, and advanced aerodynamics. Boeing credited the milestone to the hard work and collaboration of its global workforce and partners, and thanked every airline and passenger who helped reach the landmark.
