Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) is introducing a new first class option that combines two adjoining suites into one larger private space, creating what the airline describes as a loft-like cabin for long-haul travellers.

The “First Grand Suite” is part of the carrier’s upcoming SWISS Senses cabin and service revamp. The design allows passengers to merge two suites, along with the aisle between them, into a single enclosed area with walls over 1.8 metres high. The space can be used as a bedroom, workspace or dining room, aimed at passengers who value privacy and flexibility during their flight.

The airline says the configuration is suited to couples, families or business travellers who want more room to themselves. The Grand Suite will be offered alongside SWISS’s existing first class products, which include single window suites and the “Suite Plus” option that can be arranged for two passengers.

Heike Birlenbach, SWISS’s chief commercial officer, said the new option was designed to give passengers more control over how they use their cabin space, whether to work, relax or dine.

The Grand Suite will be rolled out from early 2026 on the airline’s new Airbus A350s and on refurbished Airbus A330s operating from Switzerland. It will also become available on Boeing 777s at a later stage.

SWISS is one of the few international airlines that continues to offer a first class cabin across all of its long-haul routes. The Grand Suite will be bookable for up to three passengers via a dedicated hotline.
