A drone caused alarm at San Diego International Airport this week after it was seen flying dangerously close to incoming aircraft.
The incident unfolded live on the Airline Videos YouTube stream, when host Kevin suddenly swung his camera to capture the small device hovering near the approach path.
“There’s a drone! That shouldn’t be anywhere near these planes,” he exclaimed as the drone darted around the sky, at one point climbing higher before drifting back down and buzzing across the frame.
At one stage, the drone appeared to move directly toward the camera position, just as a Southwest Airlines jet descended overhead only a few hundred feet above it.
“Whoever’s flying that drone could end up in jail,” Kevin said as viewers watched the close call play out.
Airline Videos later confirmed authorities were alerted and air traffic control passed warnings along to approaching pilots.
