Christchurch Airport will welcome regional airline Originair, which is set to begin twice-daily flights between Blenheim and Christchurch from Sunday, 19 October 2025.
The service will operate using the British Aerospace Jetstream 32, a pressurised twin-turboprop seating 18 passengers with an onboard bathroom.

Justin Watson, Chief Executive of Christchurch Airport, said the route is vital for regional connectivity and economic activity. “Enabling regional routes are vital to Christchurch’s role as the South Island hub, connecting communities and supporting economic activity across the region. We’re looking forward to seeing the white and yellow Jetstreams become a regular feature of our whanau.”
Dean Heiford, Chief Executive of Marlborough Airport, added: “A consistent return service to Christchurch is important for our business community, accessing health care, and as a key market for tourism. We’re pleased to see Originair’s plans to scale up this route as passenger demand is established.”
The route also plays a key role in enabling patients to access specialist care at Christchurch Hospital. Christchurch Airport is working closely with Originair to ensure a smooth start to operations.
