Tokyo is adding another stop to its line-up of anime attractions with the launch of PokéPark KANTO, a new Pokémon-themed park set to open in spring 2026.
The park will be the first permanent outdoor Pokémon attraction and will be built on 2.6 hectares within the Yomiuriland theme park in the Tama Hills area. It will be split into two zones: “Pokémon Forest,” where visitors can explore lush scenery and encounter Pokémon, and “Kayatsuri Town” (Sedge Town), featuring shops, attractions, and live events.
Organisers say visitors will be able to encounter more than 600 Pokémon species and enjoy a range of interactive experiences. Tickets are expected to go on sale later this year.
Tokyo is already home to a growing list of anime-themed destinations. Fans can visit Sanrio Puroland, the indoor park dedicated to Hello Kitty and friends, which features live shows, meet-and-greets, and seasonal events. Another major draw is the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka’s Inokashira Park, showcasing the work of Studio Ghibli and offering fans a peek into the world behind beloved films like My Neighbour Totoro and Spirited Away.
With PokéPark KANTO joining the line-up, Tokyo is set to give anime and game fans even more reasons to immerse themselves in their favourite fictional worlds.
