A man onboard American Airlines Flight 2259 became violent mid-flight, threatening to harm himself and others, according to live air traffic control audio.
The pilot declared a Level Four disturbance, and secured the cockpit as crew and passengers restrained the man, tying his hands and legs. He continued to resist even after being restrained.
The flight, operated by a Boeing 737 MAX 8 (registration N318SF), was en route from Miami to Quito when the incident occurred on February 1.
