Cathay Pacific has reopened its flagship lounge at Beijing Capital International Airport after a major redesign, offering travellers new dining options, relaxation areas and a refreshed layout.

The relaunch is part of the airline’s wider lounge upgrade programme, which has recently included the reopening of The Bridge in Hong Kong. Similar projects are also underway at other key airports, with new lounges planned for Hong Kong and New York in the coming years.

At the Beijing event on 15 August, Cathay executives were joined by officials from Beijing Capital International Airport and industry partners to mark the reopening.

The redesigned lounge includes three dining areas. A noodle bar serves freshly prepared wonton and dan dan noodles alongside local favourites such as Beijing-style bean paste noodles. A food hall provides international self-serve dishes and baked goods, while a teahouse – the first outside Hong Kong – offers a curated menu of Chinese teas.

Other features include private seating areas, a terrace with open-ceiling verandah, and an artwork collection curated with contributions from contemporary artists. The design incorporates natural light, cherry wood finishes and limestone details to create a more residential feel.

The lounge also introduces a podium-style reception, first trialled at Hong Kong International Airport, and Lounge Ambassadors, who are on hand to assist travellers.

Alongside the new Beijing lounge, Cathay Pacific also operates facilities in Shanghai and Shenzhen, while in Hong Kong it continues to rotate lounge operations during ongoing renovations. The airline currently runs more than 300 return flights per week to 23 destinations in mainland China.
